  1. Carbon offsets are literally just another way for the government to get money. You can pollute as much as you want assuming you pay enough

  2. So here’s the question I pose to you?
I, a land owner, will have two options for land income projects.
    #1 i can log it. 2250 acres.
#2 I can enter the carbon market and not harvest, but instead just manage the land and leave it untouched. While applying for conservation grants as good neighbor authorities allow.

    Which would you prefer?

  3. Suodžiai taip pat reikalingi nes tokių butų vėsina nepraleisdami saulės šviesos kaip būna su debesimis ir vulkanų pelenais .

  4. Come on folks — sure more improved stoves burning wood is great! However, its wood = renewable resource. So how is burning wood more efficiency really result in carbon offsets considering that wood not burn would decompose – as in oxidizing into CO2 – anyway? Clearly burning wood with proper air fuel ration is great but to infer a huge CO2 reduction as in green house gas reduction is a bit of stretch if not a scam. In other words what’s the feaking difference between claiming offsets for a forest that’s already being preserved?

  5. Im going to propose a solution to climate change.
Stop having kids. Im dead serious.
We have an overpopulation problem no one on any political spectrum wants to discuss.
And its the most effective way to curb the rampaging growth that is spiked demand to such a level that no matter how much we have collected or achieved we will not be capable of avoiding the damage.

    1 life = 50 to 100 years of cost.
Food, shelter, medicine, safety, energy, distractions. It’s adding to the squealer.

Imagine what becomes available every time a child isn’t born? The clothes would go to something else the food to something else even if it rots its food for nature. Nature thats been choking and starved for reprieve.

Do we make it policy NO WE DON’T.
But we make it a GOOD idea. People should be admired for their commitment to sparing the earth the pollution of man.

Oh and before you say. We need to reproduce to avoid extinction! I KNOW…. If 100 people all decide to have 1 child per couple they would have a new generation of 50. Once they all die that group of 50 can link and have 2 kids or more leaving space for population growth once again.

  6. They never do these carbon offsets with forest anyone is planning on developing, It would be too expensive.

  7. why do environmentalists pretend like they are the only ones who live on earth… they act like these people just cooking over rocks are a burden on them and their precious "climate change"… such a disgusting way to act towards people. maybe stop worrying about what everyone else is doing and worry about yourself…

  8. “Unintentionally over sold credit” 😂😂 yeah it was definitely unintentionally caught. Not unintentionally over sold

  9. Many things to be considerate, but there is a sure. Re-forestation, specially with native trees, is not applicable to that case on the video. So people have to understand the difference between re-forestation x afforestation.

  10. Humans NEED to go back to spreading out in their nations, living free and clear off the land ( no taxes on the land or home ), and getting back to self sufficiency working off thier own land so elite criminals of wealth cannot exploit us all. Modern day cities are no longer affordable to 80% of citizens in all cities across Earth. This is literally heading toward the Starving Games. Fascism.

  11. Thanks for this. I often struggle to explain to people why I, as an environmentalist, am critical of carbon credits

  12. Not just forest, you can get carbon offset credit from solar PV system, wind turbine and any renewable energy generating system.

  13. Capitalism created, and is the reason it cannot deal with, climate change. Im always glad to have more evidence for that – thank you!

  14. As for the koppal district one, i think some BIG things we need to highlight are:

1: As far as we know, the NGOs and programms genuinely thought it would work, unlike the previous examples, where the worst examples were practically scams

2: It STILL had benefits. 1: it has the 15% reduction, 2: it STILL helped increase the standard of living of the average household that was using them

3: A Better solution was done by the Gov of india. PMUV, or Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (Pradhan Mantri is Hindi for Prime Minister, Ujjwala means illumination, and Yojana means scheme) is a nationwide scheme where direct LPG connections are given out to households (or cashback for getting one). LPG is VASTLY better than wood/charcoal, and almost all of india uses gas stoves (electric is not popular there due to a less sturdy electrical system)

Keep in mind, the cookstove scheme was done during 2014-2016. The LPG one was 2019

  15. Brilliant – these cookstoves are cutting emissions… not so brilliant – the saving is cancelled out by
generating offsets that allow others to make more emissions, preventing premature deaths
from smoke also undermines emissions claims because dead people don’t need to cook food –
a sad FACT that should have been mentioned to maintain scientific credibility.

  16. Stop calling it carbon ..!!! Carbon is a solid, co2 is a colourless odourless GAS, the GAS of life for flora and is rare, 1/2500th of the air we breathe..

  18. The program will create more harm than good, guaranteed. When Terracycle introduced their revolutionary recycling techniques I was hooked. I started keeping all my Cliff bar wrappers to send to them at a future date for them to recycle. Over the next two years I was able to fill a decent size box with wrappers and shipped it to Terracycle. Then it dawned upon me, how many Cliff bars was I eating before the recycling program? I figured it was about 5 times less!! So my consumption increased 5 fold because it gave me the warm fuzzy feeling of doing good. Carbon credits and recycling tap into the same part of our brain, we think we are doing good so we don’t change anything and in fact increase our consumption!

What we fail to realize is the first two Rs from back in the day, REDUCE and REUSE then recycle. Recycling is a very last resort, but we are treating it like it cancels out all the harm. Seven pounds of waste is created for every pound of product you buy. Then that waste product is sent through a web of complex systems all fueled with carbon to produce a recycled product at the end. NOW, it is better than virgin material but what’s better is reducing first then reusing. Carbon credits are ignoring the first two pillars of being green, no reduction is happening and 99.9% of their products aren’t being reused.

  19. I’m all for not releasing gases into our atmosphere, but I saw no evidence of it being bad only when we were pumping tons back during the steel age. I just think this whole thing is a massive scare tactic, money grab, and a money laundering scheme.

  20. imo, carbon offset credits are a scam, whether the people selling them are intentionally doing so or not. for the average person, it is a way to buy innocence and avoid the feeling of guilt, and for companies, it is a greenwashing campaign to make them more attractive to investors. selling the concept of unburned land is a pathetic excuse for "offsetting emissions".

  21. I suppose since ‘climate change’ is a big hoax, it all doesnt matter anyway, except their ESG score, which is about DEI and not environmental regulations.

  22. Contrary to popular belief, it’s actually free to completely leave a swath of nature alone. Selling carbon credits has and always will be a bureaucratic scam

  23. Let me get this straight – "If you buy our carbon credits , we WONT cut down this already existing forest". This is insane , and the whole thing is ripe for corruption. Check out the Investigation by German DW on how fake chinese companies ripped off German companies and govt by hundreds of millions of euros

  24. Strange how I’m getting recommended this video a few days after a certain catastrophic event in California—LA and surrounding areas specifically—unfolded.

  25. Gal Indonezija gali kartu auginti ir medžius kurie gamina natūralų kaučiuką ir tie medžiai beje taip pat gamina O2 naudodami tam CO2 .

  26. Carbon offset has always been infuriating to me. Companies think they’re so smart pulling this trash and no one will see through it

  27. Paying someone off to promise to not destroy something is mafia-level thinking.

Even more so is destroying it anyway.

Intuitively though, carbon offsets make no practical sense. How does planting a tree in one part of the world reliably offset destruction thousands of miles away. Weather effects are both local and global after all

  28. The real issue, as alluded with "human behavior," is that it increases the _risk mitigation_ factor while simultaneously placating everyone’s bad habits. The more everyone feels the greenwashed advertisement in the checkout’s checkbox alleviates their person responsibility, the more they feel entitled to continue their bad habits. Offsets aren’t solutions — they’re indulgences for the eco-unrepentant.

  29. So the burden of solving global warming (via improved stoves) is ppl in developing countries that produce WAY less emissions than anyone in the developed world ??

  30. The irony of Wendover releasing a video with the thumbnail "Carbon Offset is a scam" when they advertise using carbon offset on every one of the Jetlag episodes… Not saying that the work/research hasn’t been done, and I assume they use one that they believe is actually helping. Just saying its a bit ironic at its face.
